WILSON SCHOOL BUS SAFETY RULES

It is the intent of Wilson to make bus riding a pleasant experience. In order to make it more pleasant and safe for all students, these rules have been adopted. Please remember this-it is not the driver or the principal who excludes a student from riding the school bus, the student excludes himself/herself because of behavior that may endanger the safety of all students, including him/her.

REGULATIONS GOVERNING STUDENTS

1. When the bus arrives at the school, the students are to remain on the school grounds until boarding the bus at the end of the school day.

2. Students being transported are under the authority of the bus driver and other school personnel.

STUDENT SHOULD:

1. Be at the bus stop ten minutes before designated time, there may be times when the bus is late due to traffic, mechanical problems, etc.
2. Wait in an orderly manner for the school bus; stand a safe distance back from the curb or street and get in line when the school bus is approaching. The driver will not wait for students that aren't at the bus stop on time.
3. Always use the steps and handrail-NEVER JUMP!
4. Take a seat quietly and quickly; sit in seats if assigned by the driver and remain seated.
5. Always face the front when riding the bus.
6. DO NOT extend hands, arms, heads or objects through the bus windows.
7. DO NOT open or close windows without permission from the driver.
8. Never throw anything while on the bus or while waiting for the bus.
9. Keep all of your items in your backpack, do not take things out as they may fall of the floor and become a distraction or get left behind.
10. Talk in normal tones-loud, vulgar, or obscene language is prohibited.
11. Keep the bus clean; never place books, pencils, etc., in aisle. No food, gum, or drinks are allowed on the bus. No glass containers on bus.
12. Be courteous to the driver, to fellow students and to passersby.
13. Never talk to the bus driver when the bus is in motion.
14. Any unauthorized rider must have the prior approval of the school.

STUDENTS WHO REFUSE TO OBEYTHE DIRECTIONS OF THE BUS DRIVER PROMPTLY, OR REFUSE TO OBEY REGULATIONS WILL LOSE THEIR RIGHT TO RIDE ON THE BUS.
